Seasonal Affective Disorder and Bioptron Lamp

Seasonal Affective Disorder (SAD) is something that affects many people at this time of year, starting at the beginning of November and going through until the end of March the following year, the worst time being December through February. It lowers the immune system and affects moods very badly and is also to do with the serotonin levels in the brain being low. Exercise, smiling, being out in daylight and taking omega 3 fish oils are some of the ways you can help yourself naturally, and of course, by using a Bioptron Lamp.

I’ve been a therapist for the last twenty two years and have gained a vast array of knowledge on healing and how to help clients through times of crises and to come out the otherside a lot wiser. My background is one of having been brought up in a family of Doctors, nearly all my relatives on my Fathers side were in the medical profession and an Uncle by marriage on my Mothers side was also a doctor, but it wasn’t until I was in my mid thirties did I realise I had the gift of healing.

Seasonal Affective Disorder (SAD) is not something I’ve personally suffered, but I have gone through a lot of depressive states and PTSD. I came across the study of colour and its affects on the body through the chakras in the mid 90s and was so fascinated by it that I took two courses in Colour and Light Treatments which lasted three years. I now use a Bioptron Lamp which doubles as a SAD lamp and so has many uses besides just helping SAD.  It’s important when treating SAD that you draw enough daylight light into your body to help raise the seratonin levels and keep them up so that it combats the depressive feelings that are so often felt this time of year. Sleeping patterns are affected by wanting to sleep a lot and so finding it difficult to get out of bed in the mornings.
Natural foods containing serotonin are: turkey, bananas, milk, yogurt, eggs, meats, nuts, beans, fish, cheddar, gruyere, and swiss cheese. Sweet cravings, weight gain/loss, depression, mood swings are also part of the SAD syndrome, according to the SAD Association only 80% of the population who suffer from this debilitating state are helped by a SAD light box, but by following the simple instructions of using the Bioptron Lamp for 25 minutes every morning it will definitely work for you. It is always a good thing to have the symptoms checked by your Doctor as serotonin is a very important neurotransmitter and so affects many parts of the body, mind and appetite.
If you do decide to buy a Bioptron Lamp you will be investing wisely as it also contributes to health and well being and can be used for other health giving properties such as, burns, ulcers, bed sores, arthritic and rheumatic conditions, pain relief, broken bones, broken skin, scars in general and from operations, acne roseacia, psoriasis etc and as this is a medical aid, these conditions are guaranteed to be successfully cured by the lamp.
If you would like more information about the Bioptron Lamp I’m very happy to demonstrate it to a room full or just one person and answer any questions you may have as I’m the South West Medical Consultant for Zepter GA who produces the lamp in Switzerland.
